Q1. Which facial areas can thread lifting address?
Thread products may be used across the brows, under-eye/periorbital area, cheeks and midface, nasolabial folds, lips and marionette lines, jawline, neck, nose, and selected body areas [8][9][10]. Not every area is treated in one session. The appropriate area combination is determined by the treating physician based on the patient's anatomy and treatment goals.

Q2. Which thread designs are commonly mapped to jawline and lower-face work?
There is no single "best" product for the jawline. Cog 4D and Double Needle are mapped to jawline definition, while Mono Screw is mapped to double-chin work [8]. Barbed threads are used for jawline contouring, while mono threads are used for collagen-related skin-quality work [11]. The functional logic is one sentence: cog/barbed constructions anchor and reposition tissue, while mono and screw constructions do not reposition — they address skin quality. That distinction is explained in the Thread Types & Specifications FAQ and the PDO Threads FAQ.
There is no publishable "best thread for the jawline": suitability depends on skin laxity, fat volume and anchoring anatomy, and no contour outcome can be guaranteed. In cases of severe jowling, a surgical approach may be more appropriate than threads. The treating physician decides during assessment (physician decision).
Q3. Are threads used for cheeks and midface laxity?
Yes. The cheeks and midface are common application areas. PCL products may be used for facial contour support involving the midface, lower face and jawline, while selected PLLA products cover midface lifting and contour support [3][4]. Cog and spiral-cog threads are used for cheeks, jowls and nasolabial folds [7]. The appropriate choice depends on the patient's anatomy, tissue laxity and treatment goal.
The selection step that matters most: separate the lifting goal (cog/barbed — repositioning) from the skin-quality goal (mono/screw — no repositioning), as explained in the Thread Types & Specifications FAQ. Which goal — or which combination — applies to a patient depends on laxity, tissue quality and the treatment objective, and is a physician decision. No lift magnitude or guaranteed outcome is stated here or anywhere on this page.
Q4. Can threads be used around the eyes or for brow elevation?
Threads may be used around the eyes and for brow-related work. An Eye Thread example is 30G W blunt cannula, USP 7-0 (Thread Types & Specifications FAQ). This is a product specification, not an indication. Brow elevation, brow asymmetry correction and "fox-eye" styling are separate goals, and selected PLLA products include the brow among their application areas [4][9].
Two cautions frame this area:
- Blunt cannulas are used in areas such as the periorbital region (Thread Lift Basics FAQ). Under-eye work should be handled only by practitioners with specific training.
- Possible complications include skin dimpling, thread extrusion and removal of a thread that does not absorb as expected [6]. No complication rates are stated here.
Any eye-area or brow treatment therefore requires assessment by a trained/licensed practitioner, and no brow or under-eye result can be guaranteed (physician decision).
Q5. Can threads improve the appearance of nasolabial folds and marionette lines?
Mono, Tornado and Cog 3D/4D designs are mapped to the nasolabial folds [8]. Cog and spiral-cog threads may also be used for this area [7]. Lips and marionette lines are additional application areas [9].
The reason the answer stays partial is anatomical: nasolabial folds and marionette lines combine volume loss and laxity. Threads may address part of that picture — whether to combine them with a volumizing treatment, and which thread to use, is a clinical plan determined by the treating physician. Threads are not a universal fix for every type of fold, and no "eliminates folds" outcome is claimed (physician decision).

Q6. Can threads be used for neck lines or neck laxity?
Neck lifting and neck-line smoothing are recognized applications [9][10]. Mono, Cog 3D/4D and Double Needle families are mapped to the neck [8].
- PCL neck use is limited to selected patients when the product and treatment protocol support it; vascular and neural anatomy must be considered (PCL Threads FAQ).
- PLLA neck products are generally reserved for selected cases with appropriate practitioner assessment (PLLA Threads FAQ).

Neck treatment is appropriate only for selected patients after assessment by a trained/licensed practitioner. The choice depends on the patient's anatomy, skin laxity, treatment goal and the thread design. Q7. Can threads be used on the nose or other body areas?
Nose. Nose threads may be used for the nasal bridge and tip [9][12]. A Nose Thread example is 19G L cannula, USP 2 (Thread Types & Specifications FAQ). This is a product specification, not an indication. Nasal work requires trained/licensed practitioner assessment because vascular and nerve structures must be considered [6].
Body. Product materials map thread products to the chest, legs, hips, hands, shoulders, inner thighs, knees and abdomen [10][13]. These are product mappings, not universal indications.
Body use requires more cautious evaluation because body skin and tissue tension differ from the face, and evidence may be more limited (PCL Threads FAQ). Selected PLLA products may be considered only after a trained/licensed practitioner confirms that the area and treatment goal are appropriate (PLLA Threads FAQ).
Q8. How many threads are needed for a full-face or multi-area treatment?
There is no universal number. Quantity depends on the treated areas, tissue laxity, thread type and length, anchoring, technique and the individual patient's anatomy. The treating physician determines the number during an in-person assessment.
For context only, one clinic reports: "when treating the cheekbone to the jawline we may use three or four threads per side" [7]. This is an illustrative account, not a recommendation and not a plan for any patient.
